Ingrid Veidenberg Resigns as Chronicle Editor-in-Chief

Tallinn, Estonia – Ingrid Veidenberg, editor-in-chief of The Chronicle newspaper, has announced her resignation, effective June 4th. The Chronicle published the news Friday morning, coinciding with the announcement of the upcoming Estonian Entertainment Awards ceremony. Veidenberg, who has served as editor-in-chief for a total of 21 years, initially held the position from 1997 to 2007 and returned in 2019.

Her decision comes after eighteen years leading the publication. In a statement, Veidenberg cited a desire to assess the evolving media landscape, particularly the impact of digital and social media, as a key factor in her departure. “I would like to take a deep breath and look at the media from the outside – how the digital and social media era is affecting the media, among others, the next years of Chronicle,” she explained.

The Chronicle’s grand gala, to be held on June 4th, will mark Veidenberg’s final event as editor. The newspaper will announce the appointment of a new editor-in-chief following the gala. The resignation of Ingrid Veidenberg concludes a significant chapter for The Chronicle.
