Estonian Ice Hockey Team Prepares for World Championship Division B

The Estonian men’s national ice hockey team is set to compete in the 1st Division B group World Championship, taking place in Shenzhen, China, from April 29th to May 5th, 2023. The team will face competition from the host nation, China, alongside South Korea, Romania, Spain, and the Netherlands. Leading the team as head coach is Petri Skriko, a Finnish national who assumed the role in 2023.

Skriko acknowledged the absence of veteran player Robert Rooba, stating that it presents an opportunity for younger members of the team to gain valuable experience. “The absence of Robert Rooba is certainly a difficult situation,” Skriko commented, “However, it will allow emerging talent to step up and demonstrate their abilities.”

The Estonian team’s participation in this World Championship aims to further develop the national program and provide a platform for its players to showcase their skills on an international stage. The competition will be a key event for the team’s preparation moving forward.
