The Estonian amateur film community is preparing for the production of its first shark film, “Vergi hai.” Filming for the movie is scheduled to take place in early July at Vergi village within the Lahemaa National Park. The filming period is set from July 4th through July 11th, and the endeavor is organized by the Tartu Amateur Film Club. The club has announced an open call for participants, stating that they are actively seeking talent for the project.

According to the club, securing roles is a priority, with casting calls open to all interested parties. Notably, the production does not require participants to possess professional swimming or acting skills. The film requires several specific roles, including a reporter, a sailor designated as “sailor 2,” a sugar seller, and, of course, a shark.

The overall budget allocated for the haifilm is $181. Consequently, compensation for the cast and crew will be provided in the form of memberships within the film club. This production marks a significant cultural event for the local filmmaking scene, occurring sel (this season).

The amateur effort aims to bring local storytelling to life through the genre of the shark film. Local enthusiasts are encouraged to participate in this cinematic venture suvel (this summer), contributing to the development of Estonian film content.
