Survey Reveals Deteriorating Economic Situation for Many Estonians

A recent survey by Luminor indicates a significant portion of Estonian residents perceive a worsening of their economic situation. The survey found that 40% of respondents believe their financial circumstances have deteriorated over the past few months. The Norstat survey revealed a broader picture, with 43% of respondents stating that their economic situation remained unchanged during the same period.

However, the impact was most pronounced among low-income individuals and residents of the Ida-Viru and Lääne-Eesti regions. Contributing factors to this shift in perception include rising energy prices experienced during the early months of the year, driven by the unusually cold winter, and subsequent increases in fuel costs linked to the ongoing conflict in the Persian Gulf. Specifically, 42% of Estonians reported a worsening economic situation within the last three months, while only 15% indicated an improvement.
