To mark International Migratory Bird Day on May 9th, the Estonian Ornithological Society is organizing birdwatching activities at various observation towers across Estonia. This event aims not only to celebrate the annual migration but also to draw attention to the most biologically rich observation points within the country. Participants are invited to take advantage of the specialized infrastructure provided by the network of towers. A dedicated digital card application allows users to identify and plan visits to suitable birdwatching locations throughout Estonia. In total, twelve distinct observation towers are accessible to the public. These towers offer unique vantage points, allowing visitors to observe diverse avian life during this critical period of migration. Experienced ornithologists will be present at the sites to guide attendees, providing expert knowledge on identification, behavior, and the ecological importance of the observed species. The organized nature of the event ensures that the public can maximize their viewing experience. By utilizing the available resources, enthusiasts can plan an educational outing focused on the biodiversity of Estonia’s natural habitats. The opportunity to observe migratory birds in a structured environment makes this year’s celebration a key event for nature lovers and amateur naturalists alike. The combination of expert guidance and established viewing platforms ensures that everyone can safely and effectively vaata the incredible variety of birds passing through the region.
