Estonian Museums Society to Stage Demonstration Regarding School Trip Funding The Estonian Society of Museums plans to hold a demonstration outside the Education and Science Ministry building in Tartu on April 28th. The event will be jointly organized with various cultural and educational institutions. The purpose of the demonstration is to raise awareness about a decline in school trips following a reduction in funding requests from schools to parents. Kerttu Männiste, chairman of the Society’s board, described the planned action as an “artistic-educational content” demonstration. She explained that the Society is concerned about the diminishing opportunities for students to participate in educational excursions. Recent changes have led to many schools no longer soliciting financial contributions from parents for school trips. This has resulted in a significant decrease in the number of trips taking place. Organizers intend to utilize creative and educational elements within the demonstration to highlight the importance of these activities for student development. Representatives from the museums society and participating institutions will be present. The demonstration is scheduled for a date yet to be confirmed.
