NATO flight demonstration teams are currently conducting training and low-altitude maneuvers within Estonian airspace. These ongoing lennuharjutused involve advanced military aircraft, which necessitate flying at altitudes as low as 152 meters. Due to the proximity of these flights to populated areas, there is a noted possibility that aircraft may pass over residential structures or individual farmsteads, presenting a risk to buildings and agricultural facilities.

Furthermore, the training regimen may include flights conducted at supersonic speeds. Such maneuvers are known to generate powerful shockwaves. These shockwaves are comparable in intensity to those produced by artillery fire or explosions.

The presence of liitlaste (allied) forces conducting these rigorous lennuharjutused means that the public may experience noticeable effects from the passes. Residents near the flight paths should be aware that the passage of these aircraft can generate significant valjusid (vibrations) and loud noises. Authorities advise the public to remain indoors or take necessary precautions when these low-altitude training flights are underway.

The exercises are part of routine readiness operations for the participating NATO units.

  1. I hope the military training is conducted safely and with appropriate public warnings given the low flight altitudes.
