Rail Disruptions Continue Due to Overhaul Delays

Passengers utilizing several key rail lines will experience continued disruptions this Friday, following a prolonged delay in the completion of work at the Palupera-Puka railway station. Originally slated for resolution by Friday morning, the 96-hour rail traffic disruption has been extended due to unforeseen circumstances. GoTrack, the contractor responsible for the overhaul, has informed AS Eesti Raudtee of the need for additional work to finalize the project.

As a result, bus replacements will be in effect on the Elva-Valga section for passengers traveling on the Tartu-Valga, Tallinn-Tartu-Riga, and Tallinn-Tartu-Riga-Vilnius lines. The delay is primarily attributed to weather-related challenges. Deteriorating access roads have hampered the transportation of materials to the construction site, significantly impacting the progress of the work.

This situation affects commuters and travelers reliant on these routes, particularly those connecting Tartu and Valga. Officials are working to minimize further delays and anticipate a revised timeline for the completion of the overhaul will be announced shortly.
