Croatian Rally Sees Veteran Duo Claim Podium Finish

The Croatian Rally, held over the weekend, concluded with a notable result, featuring a trio of Rally1 cars completing the final stage without incident – a rare occurrence in the year’s competition. Among the finishers was Hayden Paddon (Hyundai), securing third place. Notably, Paddon’s success was bolstered by his 67-year-old navigator, John Kennard, who achieved a historic podium position.

Kennard’s performance marks him as the oldest navigator to reach the top three in a World Rally Championship stage. The Toyota team also contributed to the weekend’s surprises. Team leader Juha Kankkunen, a four-time World Rally Championship winner, finished third alongside co-driver, John Kennard.

Kankkunen, at 67 years old, is just two months younger than Kennard. The event highlighted the continued passion and skill within the rally community, showcasing experienced drivers and navigators like Kankkunen and Kennard. The Croatian Rally demonstrated a competitive year for the sport, with veteran talent playing a key role in the results.
