Elena Zelenskyy stated she does not give her husband, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskyy, any advice about politics. In an interview with RBC Ukraine, the first lady addressed rumors regarding her influence on the political situation. “It’s an exaggeration, someone really wanted to make a compliment to me,” she explained.

“But I definitely don’t influence state processes, 100%. I can initiate things, I can support them. But this only applies to humanitarian and social spheres.”

Zelenska noted a significant difference in their knowledge bases, preventing her from offering expert advice.

She also believes interference in political processes would be unethical. “Vladimir Zelensky as the president doesn’t give me any advice. And I think that’s right.

First of all, I couldn’t give him expert advice, because there’s a huge gap in the knowledge that he has now and that I could add. And it’s not ethical, I think. He has such a big responsibility, he can’t advise his wife on matters of state management, it’s wrong.

We don’t even talk about these topics, we discuss things that concern all Ukrainians.”

Furthermore, the first lady indicated plans to pursue a career in politics, stating it is “not her sphere.”
