Martin Raatse stated that party renewal is inevitable following the Centre Party’s election results. The chairman of the Centre Party acknowledged the party made mistakes and requires addressing them. Discussions within the party’s board focused on the reasons for the election outcome and necessary adjustments.

Raatse believes the party should maintain its core values while updating its program. He emphasized a shift in focus towards environmental and economic issues, alongside continued attention to social and health care, education, youth concerns, and regional policy. The party’s strength remains the socio-economic axis, including reducing inequality, supporting the elderly, and maintaining strong regional policy.

Raatse highlighted the significance of Estonia’s overall development and the Centre Party’s responsibility to address past mistakes and find solutions. He recognized the role of the security background, particularly Russian aggression, in the elections and the party’s consistent support for Ukraine. Raatse noted the party’s limited financial resources compared to other campaigns, which contributed to a reduced mandate count.

Despite this, the Centre Party secured one mandate more than EKRE. He expressed confidence in the party’s ability to continue working and pursue renewal.
