VIDEO: Couple found a surprising hole in the kitchen floor, which had been hidden there for 300 years

A couple discovered a historic well during a kitchen renovation of their 18th-century house in England. The homeowners, Mona and partner, began work in February, intending to install a heating system. While excavating the foundation for the project, they uncovered a leak in the kitchen floor.

Initially concerned about a plumbing issue, they realized the leak was near a brick wall and identified it as a previously concealed well. The couple shared their discovery on social media, documenting the ongoing renovation. The well, initially appearing filled with debris, was revealed to be a functioning water system.

It is suspected the well was filled with trash and gravel during a renovation approximately 70 years ago. During the well’s cleaning, the couple found three antique bottles, estimated to be over 100 years old, along with remnants of a water pit and ceramic pieces. The well has been excavated to a depth of five meters.

While the couple plans to continue with their heating system installation, the well will remain a feature in their kitchen. They intend to incorporate the well into the interior design. A gas detector was purchased following concerns about potential gas leaks associated with the well’s water.
