Tormis Laine experienced a challenging performance at the World Cup big slalom event in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia. The Estonian skier, Tormis Laine, reported a significant struggle during the competition, resulting in a crash. Laine stated she felt “completely empty in every way” following the event, both mentally and physically. She attributed her difficulties to a combination of factors, including fatigue and issues with her ski equipment. “I didn’t have much freshness in my feet and also the choice of ski didn’t work out,” she explained. “We took a stronger metal plate, which should be more stable, but when we were turning it, we had to apply a lot of force. The upper part of the slope was fine, but in the middle I didn’t have enough strength.” During the run, Laine recorded three sector times before the conclusion. She described a situation where she “skied with my boots in the hole and my skis went out,” managing to avoid a complete fall but ultimately failing to pass the next gate. “I’m not sure that I would have been able to get past the second run if I had been able to. I would have been able to pass only with a very good last sector time.” Lucas Pinheiro Braathen from Brazil won the second run, followed by Loic Meillard from Switzerland and Stefan Brennsteiner from Austria. Laine finished last among the competitors. “I feel completely empty,” Laine commented. “I don’t have much to give at the moment.” She plans to compete in the final slalom event of the season and will subsequently participate in several Continental Cup events. “I don’t plan to do much skiing. I’ve skied so much this season that I can’t really take anything out of it. I’m going to go even deeper into the lock with too much training,” she added.
