The February Revolution began in Russia following a series of events initiated by workers demanding increased wages. On February 23rd, employees of the Putilov factories in St. Petersburg constructed a locomotive in response to their demands. The following day, demonstrations erupted, quickly spreading throughout the nation. Protests reached as far as Irkutsk, Siberia, as depicted in this photograph.
