Tallinn City Government Approves Mobility Agency Charter, Maintains Taxi Oversight

Tallinn – The Tallinn City Government has finalized and submitted a charter amendment to the City Council for adoption. The proposed changes establish the “Tallinn Mobility Agency,” formally renaming the previously known Tallinn Transport Agency. This update reflects a broadened scope of responsibilities for the agency, focusing on comprehensive mobility solutions within the city.

Alongside this restructuring, the City Government has affirmed the Ministry of the Interior’s continued authority and control over offenses related to taxis. Chief Inspector of External Management, Aleksandr Kukk, conducted a routine inspection of taxis operating on Viru Street on Wednesday. The charter revision aims to modernize the agency’s operations and align them with evolving transportation needs within Tallinn.

The updated charter emphasizes a holistic approach to mobility, encompassing various modes of transport and promoting sustainable urban development. The City Council is scheduled to review the proposed charter at a forthcoming meeting. The move represents a strategic shift for the agency, solidifying its role as a key driver of mobility initiatives across the capital.
