The Estonian Animal Protection Society (ELS) and the Tallinn Environmental and Utility Administration will present their work at the Green Animal Protection Conference in Scotland on Thursday, September 8, 2022. The conference, held at the Teachers’ House in Tallinn, will address topics including the trade in exotic animals, rehabilitation of wild animals, assistance for anxious pets, and the efforts of Ukrainian animal protectionists. Mike Flynn, a specialist with the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals who initiated a unit combating organized dog fighting and puppy mills, will be a participant.

Flynn’s extensive experience includes advising on legislation in Jersey, Northern and Southern Ireland, Canada, and Catalonia. Chris Draper, a biologist and zoologist with 20 years of experience in animal protection associations, will also be presenting. Draper’s expertise encompasses captive wildlife welfare, protected areas, and animal welfare advocacy, and he currently leads the Performing Animal Welfare Society in the United States, having previously worked with Born Free and Vega studies.

Draper will focus on the trade in exotic animals and the rescue of wild animals. Tiina Toomet, founder and veterinarian of the Tiina Toomet Clinic, which has operated for 30 years, will represent Estonian interests. Toomet has provided extensive support to animal protection organizations, including ELS, through projects related to animal sterilization, education, fundraising, and shelter support.
