The Bioblock nasal spray, used to combat the coronavirus, has gained popularity among Estonians since its market launch last year. Readers of Tartu Postimees selected the product, developed by biotechnology company Icosagen, as the product of the year for Tartu and Tartu County in 2022. Mart Ustav, head of Icosagen, noted that the development of the nasal spray was a long-term project predating the coronavirus pandemic, and continued development efforts are ongoing.
