The international women’s curling world championship event held at the Tondiraba Ice Hall in Tallinn did not yield success for the Estonian team. None of the Estonian women’s teams advanced to the playoffs. The Estonian representation, led by captain Liisa Turmann, achieved 11th place. The Triin Madisson team finished 13th, and the team led by Tene Link placed 14th. Scotland’s team, captained by Eve Muirhead, won the championship. Muirhead secured victory in all her group stage matches and progressed directly to the semi-finals. Norway’s team, led by Team Mesloe, finished second, and Switzerland’s Team Mueller took third place. Surprisingly, the favored Danish team, led by Madeleine Dupont, did not advance to the quarter-finals. The Danish team lost to Switzerland in the quarter-final. The Estonian team’s home-based world championship event served as a key preparation phase for the European Championships. “The Tallinn championship provided us with confidence that we can play point-by-point with other teams. We lost to Denmark and Czech Republic in our group. Our dead-end group emerged due to poor accuracy, and we were eliminated from the quarter-finals. Before the EM, we will certainly focus on maintaining our throwing confidence and communication,” commented captain Turmann. Estonia will compete in the strongest A-group at the European Championships, which begin on November 20th in Lillehammer, Norway. The Estonian team includes Liisa Turmann (captain), Karoliine Kaare, Erika Tuvike, Heili Grossmann, and Kerli Laidsalu. Derek Brown is the team’s coach.
