If the Kaitseiliit had been populated with new members in Ida-Viru County to the same extent as across Estonia, primarily young people, then following the commencement of the Russian aggression against Ukraine, people of middle age would have joined the organization, and even without prior military experience.

This reflects the desire of the inhabitants of the northeast of Estonia to contribute to the security of the country, according to Aleksandr Lopanov, Lieutenant Colonel of the Narva detachment of the kaitseiliit.
