Tartu City Museum Launches Series of Discussions on Local History

The Tartu City Museum is hosting a series of evening discussions as part of its “Our Tartu” public program. These events, focused on the history and present-day realities of Tartu’s city districts, are taking place in various locations within the city and involve local residents. The discussions aim to explore the diverse narratives within Tartu’s different linnaosade – city districts – offering insights into their evolution and current status.

Each session is designed to foster dialogue and understanding between museum staff and community members. On April 2nd at 5:00 PM, a discussion will be held in the Püssirohukelder (Gunpowder Warehouse), focusing on the history of the city center. The series began in January with a conversation at the A.

Le Coqi Beer Museum, featuring curator Ants Siim and local historian Ants Johanson, a long-time resident and knowledgeable figure regarding his area. The museum’s educational program is utilizing these events to engage residents directly with the rich history of Tartu and its various city districts. Further discussions are planned across different locations throughout the city.
