testing and operation. The test ride was conducted with an old battery-powered troll, to ensure the readiness of the reconstructed tram infrastructure for the introduction of new battery-powered trolls in the summer. The test ride took place on the route of Akademi tee – Sõpruse puiestee – Kristiine.

According to the transport sector deputy mayor Joel Jesse, the purpose of the tram infrastructure renewal is to keep Tallinn’s public transport modern and durable. «We want public transport to be a reliable and comfortable daily mode of transportation for people. The reconstructed infrastructure and new battery-powered trolls will help achieve this goal – they are environmentally friendly and can move without contact lines, which gives the city more flexibility in terms of lines operation.
