A complete customs control has been in place at the Narva border since last year, according to Estonian authorities, significantly impacting the movement of prohibited goods across the border. Marking one year of implementation by the Tax and Customs Department (TCD), the initiative began August 8th with the goal of reducing the risk of sanctions goods entering Russia. During the year, over 585,000 border crossings were recorded at the Narva, Luhamaa, and Koidu border checkpoints. More than 4,300 violations were detected at the border.
