According to a recent survey conducted nationwide in Estonia, residents of the Muhu municipality report the highest levels of satisfaction with their living environment and local public services. The survey, focused on assessing residents’ satisfaction with local public services and the overall living environment, revealed that satisfaction with the living environment within Muhu reached 73.5 points out of 100. Satisfaction with services provided by local authorities was recorded at 60.7 points.

The municipality of Muhu demonstrated the highest satisfaction level at 85.4, while Kohtla-Järve registered the lowest at 37.4, a difference of 47.7 points. Data analysis by the Ministry of Finance indicated significant variations in satisfaction across sectors. Residents generally expressed higher satisfaction with factors such as the distance to kindergartens and primary schools, safety, and the natural environment, averaging over 75 points.

Conversely, areas requiring improvement include public transport (56.6), street lighting (67.8), and bike lanes (51.3). Notable differences between municipalities were observed in areas such as bike and pedestrian paths, with Narva-Jõesuu exhibiting the highest satisfaction (72.9) and Piiõitse the lowest (22.8). The natural environment and overall living environment demonstrated a more unanimous opinion, with a difference of 21.9 points between the highest and lowest results.

The survey highlighted the need for local authorities to address concerns regarding management, community involvement, overall development direction, and winter road maintenance, where satisfaction levels were approximately 50 points.
