Queen Elizabeth II passed away on September 9th, 2022, at 9:29 am at Buckingham Palace. The 96-year-old queen’s death followed a visit to Estonia in October 2006. During the visit, Queen Elizabeth II and President Toomas Hendrik Ilves participated in a ceremony at Tallinn Port, removing the cover from the coat of arms of the future Estonian minediver, the Admiral Cowan, a ship of the city of Kuressaare and the current flagship of the Estonian Navy. President Alar Karis expressed condolences, stating, “Estonia remembers the dignitary of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, who understood the changes in the world and helped to make us all much more open.
