Rare Bear Sightings Reported in Viljandi Region Viljandi, Estonia – Former Minister of Culture, laine Randjärv, experienced a remarkable event during the weekend at her manor house property near Viljandi. Randjärv reported observing a bear family – a mother bear and four cubs – on the edge of a field. The sighting occurred last Saturday, and the bear group remained in the area for approximately thirty minutes before retreating into the adjacent forest. Randjärv was able to capture the event on camera, taking several photos of the animals. Local wildlife experts were notified of the occurrence and are currently assessing the situation. While bear sightings are not entirely uncommon in Estonia, particularly during the summer months as animals forage for food, the presence of a mother with such a large litter is considered a noteworthy event. Authorities are advising residents in the surrounding area to exercise caution and take appropriate measures to ensure the safety of both people and pets. The exact location of the sighting is being kept confidential to minimize disturbance to the bears. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available from the Estonian Environmental Board. The photos taken by laine Randjärv are currently being reviewed.
