During the last year, 475 pieces of old netting were found and brought to the shore from 141 locations with an estimated total length of 33 kilometers. The netting was recovered during a dragging event organized by the Estonian Environmental Inspectorate in Peipsi Lake. Ivo Kask, chief inspector of the Estonian Environmental Inspectorate’s Supervisory Development Office, explained that floating netting poses a danger to the environment and to boaters.
