Estonian Skiers Finish 40th and 61st in Lahti World Cup Classic Lahti, Finland – The Lahti World Cup stage concluded Sunday with a 10km classic sprint event. Estonian athletes experienced limited success. In the women’s competition, Sweden took the top prize. Frida Karlsson, completing the 25.57.6 course, edged out Linn Svahn by 4.1 seconds, with Jessie Diggins finishing third (+6.2). Among the three Estonian competitors, Keidy Kaasiku achieved the highest placement, finishing 45th, with a deficit of 1.58.5 to the winner. Teesi Tuul finished 61st (+3.14.2), and Alvar Johannes Alev secured 61st place (+3.14.2). The top 10 finishers were: Frida Karlsson, Linn Svahn, Jessie Diggins, Johannes Høsflot Klæbo, Martin Løwstrøm Nyenget, Saveli Korostyev, Christopher Kalev, Alvar Johannes Alev. In the men’s event, Johannes Høsflot Klæbo of Norway dominated, winning with a time of 23.22.6. He was followed by his teammate Martin Løwstrøm Nyenget (22.1) and Saveli Korostyev (33.9 seconds). Alvar Johannes Alev achieved the best result for Estonia, finishing 40th with a deficit of 1.37.5 to the winner. Christopher Kalev finished 51st (+1.42.3), while Martin Himma received a yellow card for a violation of classic technique and finished 64th (+2.04.7), and Henri Roos finished 77th (+2.39.5). The top 10 finishers were: Johannes Høsflot Klæbo, Martin Løwstrøm Nyenget, Saveli Korostyev, Christopher Kalev, Alvar Johannes Alev. This week’s World Cup concludes with three more events scheduled.
