Ivi Kasak Photo: Vahur Laiapea The story tells about the life of Ivi and Herbert, their suffering and return. The article connects personal memories with the historical background of the March 1949 deportation. The story then focuses on their return to Estonia, the rebuilding of the Teola farm and the preservation of the memory.

Thursday, April 23, 1992 We drove from Tallinn to Teo in Saarepeedi. Herbert drove a tractor T-25 and I drove a car. We started the drive at 9:00 in the morning and we arrived at Teo at 8:00 in the evening.

We set up a tent and slept the first night in the tent. We had all the necessary things for life in the car: bed clothes, food containers and food. Herbert had a stove and tools in a small basket.

So we started our life in the forest in the middle of the open field. We got 1 ha of land, although it was written that there were 2 ha. Can we get all the land?
