Estonia’s tallest common spruce, measuring 48.6 meters, has been recorded in Veriora district, Põlvamaa. The tree was measured in 2015 and represents a new nature record. Common spruce trees typically grow to heights of 30 meters, with occasional specimens reaching 50-60 meters.

Additionally, biologists have documented the second oldest bird in Estonia. An osprey, initially ringed on June 30, 1985, in Saaremaa, was sighted again on March 20, 2017, also in Saaremaa. The bird’s age at the time of its last sighting was 31 years, 8 months, and 20 days.
