Easy-to-Copy Door Cards Pose Security Risk, Expert Warns A readily available and inexpensive device is facilitating the widespread copying of standard door cards, presenting a significant security vulnerability across various sectors. The device, obtainable from online retailers, allows for the replication of chip cards, including those used in CSN-type systems, from distances of several meters. According to Viking Security’s business manager specializing in security technology, this technology is rapidly being exploited by criminals and intelligence operatives. The device’s affordability has led to its proliferation, effectively rendering buildings protected by these door cards vulnerable to unauthorized access almost immediately. “This cheap device has appeared on the market that can copy ordinary door cards in a second,” the expert stated. “This makes buildings protected by CSN-type door cards open practically on the day they are day.” The expert strongly advises a swift transition from serial number-reading systems to encrypted solutions. The potential impact extends to state institutions, universities, and numerous businesses, raising concerns about exposure to espionage and criminal activity. A picture is illustrative.
