Mihkels Finishes Eighth in Tirreno-Adriatico Stage

Madis Mihkels secured eighth place in Tuesday’s 221-kilometer stage of the Tirreno-Adriatico race in Italy. Danish rider Tobias Lund Andresen ultimately won the stage, followed by Arnaud de Lie (Belgium) and Jasper Philipsen (Belgium). Mihkels noted the finish was unexpected, attributing his position to a strong rightward wind.

He explained that he anticipated the finish line would be blocked on the left, as was the case with Italian rider Jonathan Milan who finished seventh. “I was pretty well positioned, but unfortunately on the wrong side,” Mihkels stated. “The wind was on the right side and I was under the right side of Milan.”

The prevailing wind conditions significantly impacted the race dynamics, leading to a misjudgment on Mihkels’ part regarding the optimal finishing position.

He emphasized that he was not in the correct location to secure a higher placement. The stage highlighted the unpredictable influence of wind on cycling races.
