Businessman Nikolai Osipenko, a prominent figure in Ida-Viru County, and ten local officials were detained last week on suspicion of corruption offenses. The individuals detained for initial procedural actions included deputies of the Kohtla-Järve City Council – Tiiht Lillelmets, Maria Merkulova, Denis Vershinin, and Anton Dyev – as well as vice-mayors Vitaly Borodin and Evelin Danilov. Additionally, Alena Kazakova, assistant mayor, and law enforcement officer Timofey Koropov were among those detained. Individuals associated with the company Osipenko, Kirill Kyp and Evgeny Makarov, were also included in the detainment. The investigation is ongoing.
