Imbi Jürgen, chairman of the Bar Association: personal attacks against lawyers are attacks on the rule of law

Imbi Jürgen, Chairman of the Estonian Bar Association, emphasized at the meeting on Friday at the MUB that the lawyer’s work does not include personal attacks and that the independence of the profession is of paramount importance. Chairman Imbi Jürgen warned: “There is too often a perception that the tolerance of personal attacks is part of the lawyer’s job – this is completely wrong.” The General Assembly also discussed the Bar Association’s contribution to the lawmaking process, criminal proceedings, and the lawyer’s right to work independently, emphasizing the high standards and professional ethics of the profession.
