Pilistvere Congregation Marks Easter with Historic Winter Service

The Pilistvere Andreas congregation of the Estonian Orthodox Church of All Estonia celebrated its first Easter Mass within the winter church, marking a significant event for the local community. The service was led by Vicar Rev. Andres Aaste.

The Easter celebration, observed globally on April 5th, took place in Sakala, bringing together members of the congregation and wider community. Following the service, a discussion was held between Rev. Aaste and Archbishop of Tallinn, Urmas Viilma.

The conversation centered on complex theological topics, including questions of competence, euthanasia, and instances of unexplained phenomena. Representatives from the congregation were present to observe and participate in the discussions. The event underscored the continued importance of the church as a central gathering place for the congregation and a venue for exploring significant questions within the Christian faith.

The historic nature of the winter church setting added to the solemnity of the occasion. Approximately 50 people attended the service and subsequent discussion, highlighting the ongoing engagement of the Pilistvere Andreas congregation. —
