Ceremony Commemorates 165th Anniversary of Villem Reiman’s Birth

Tartu, Estonia – A commemoration event was held on March 9th to mark the 165th anniversary of the birth of Villem Reiman, a key figure in Estonia’s national movement. The event unfolded across multiple locations, beginning in Kolga-Jaani and Viljandi before culminating at the monument dedicated to Reiman on Toomemägi in Tartu. Ants Tooming, chairman of Reiman’s Collegium and an organizer of the event, offered a thoughtful perspective. He drew an analogy, stating that “in the case of a beautiful house we praise the facades and admire the beautiful windows, curtains and doorways.”
