The Tartu Entrepreneurial Ladies Association (Tartu EDA) recently hosted an event to honor women who have significantly contributed to bolstering national food security. The ceremony, attended by Tartu EDA president Kertti-Airin Pärli, recognized several prominent female figures for their work in the agricultural and food sectors. The association presented two key accolades during the evening event.

First, the title of “Tartu Entrepreneurial Lady” was awarded to Evelin Loit-Harro. Loit-Harro, who serves as a tenure professor of sustainable plant cultivation at the University of Tartu, was recognized for her expertise and contributions to sustainable practices within the region. Additionally, the prestigious “Lady of the Year” award was conferred upon Ülle Jukk.

Jukk, a recognized food historian and trainer, received this honor for her dedication to preserving and advancing knowledge related to food traditions and modern food systems. These recognitions underscore the vital role that entrepreneurship and specialized knowledge play in strengthening the Estonian food supply chain. The efforts of the recipients, celebrated by the Tartu EDA, highlight the collective commitment of women in advancing sustainable food practices across the nation.

The event served as a platform to acknowledge the tangible impact that dedicated professionals, both academic and entrepreneurial, are having on the country’s resilience in food production.
