Electricity Prices Expected to Decrease with Approaching Winter

Estonian consumers are anticipated to experience substantially lower electricity prices as the region transitions into the colder months. This shift is primarily driven by increased solar energy production during the daytime. According to Enefit energy trading analyst Karl Joosep Randveer, the decline in electricity prices is expected to be particularly pronounced.

“With the onset of the cold period, Estonian consumers will enjoy significantly cheaper electricity prices, especially during the daytime hours when the region’s solar energy production has started to grow strongly,” Randveer stated. The warmer weather conditions observed in March contributed to a decrease in electricity prices at that time. However, the anticipated rise in solar energy generation is expected to maintain downward pressure on electricity costs throughout the winter.

Enefit is closely monitoring these trends and anticipates continued opportunities for consumers to benefit from more affordable energy. The shift reflects broader regional changes in energy production and consumption patterns. [Photo: Kristjan Teedema / Tartu Postimees / Scanpix]
