E-Piim Faces Financial Challenges Following Production Building Overrun Costs

Paide, Estonia – E-Piim, a significant player in the Estonian food industry, is currently navigating financial difficulties following unexpected cost increases associated with the construction of its new production building. The project, representing the largest investment in the Estonian food sector in recent years, experienced a significant overrun in expenses. The construction, located in Paide, was initially budgeted for a specific amount, but unforeseen circumstances led to a substantial increase in the overall cost.

This situation has created financial strain for the company. According to Production Manager Anti Orav, as reported by Äripäev, the company intends to reduce its workforce by less than ten employees. He emphasized that these personnel reductions are not a direct consequence of a potential bankruptcy situation.

“The increased costs of the construction have presented a challenge,” Orav stated. “However, we are taking measured steps to manage our finances and ensure the continued operation of our production.”

The company’s new production building was intended to significantly expand its capabilities. The focus remains on maintaining operations while addressing the financial impact of the extended construction timeline and increased expenditure, which has been a key factor in their current situation.
