Finland’s best ski jumper, Antti Aalto, may be competing under a new sponsorship. The Finnish Ski Association has finalized a four-year sponsorship deal with iDM Energysystems, an Austrian company, valued at over one million euros. According to Jari-Pekka Jouppi, commercial director of the Finnish Ski Association, this represents Finland’s most profitable sponsorship deal in 15 years, surpassing previous high amounts recorded in 2006.

iDM Energysystems, established in 1997 and headquartered in East Tyrol, Austria, operates in the fields of heat pumps and water reservoirs. The company intends to expand its market presence through television advertising. The Finnish Ski Association initially sought a domestic major sponsor, but Finnish companies did not express interest in the collaboration.

Finland’s ski jumping national team secured its first Olympic medal in 2007, with Harri Olli winning gold in the normal hill and bronze in the large hill at the Beijing Olympics. This ski deal marks a potential new era for the Finnish ski jumpers.
