Consumer Price Index Rises 3.6% in March

According to the latest data released by Statistics Estonia, the consumer price index rose by 3.6% in March, remaining consistent with the levels observed in February and March 2025. This represents an increase compared to both March 2025 and March of the previous year. Specifically, goods experienced a 3.4% increase in price compared to March 2025, while services saw a rise of 3.8% over the same period.

The overall increase reflects a sustained period of inflationary pressure within the Estonian economy. Lauri Vesk, head of the consumer price statistics service at Statistics Estonia, attributed much of this rise to the ongoing military conflicts in the Middle East. These events have driven up the cost of diesel and petrol to record levels, exerting a considerable influence on the consumer price index.

The Statistics Estonia data provides a key indicator of current economic trends and highlights the impact of global events on domestic consumer prices. Further analysis of the March statistics will be undertaken to assess the long-term implications for inflation.
