Cormorant populations in Toila have significantly increased this summer, raising concerns about potential impacts on the local ecosystem. Hundreds of black cormorants were observed on the shores of the sea adjacent to Oru park in Toila by the end of August. The majority of the birds were seen near the Lesser Swan’s nest, also known as the Devil’s Forest pavilion, within Oru park. Experts note that continued growth of the cormorant population in Toila could pose a threat to the park’s existing biota. A photograph of the birds was taken in the second half of August this year.
