Economist Ago Pärtel assumed the role of quality manager for Nordic Milk BNS on September 8, 2022, at 07:30. Pärtel’s appointment follows the transition of the VTA, formerly headed by him from 1996 to 2015, to the Estonian veterinary and food administration. He holds a degree from the Estonian University of Life Sciences and has experience as a senior specialist and director’s advisor at the VTA.

Nordic Milk OÜ, a dairy company aiming to expand into export markets, stated that Pärtel’s background within the vta provides valuable expertise for engaging with both domestic and international partners. “Ago Pärtel has acquired knowledge thanks to his long career in the veterinary and food administration that we can apply when dealing with both domestic and foreign partners,” said Nordic Milk chairman Ülo Kivine. Pärtel emphasized that the quality manager’s function prioritizes food safety and quality, with no compromises made in these areas.

He cited Nordic Milk’s clear structure and strong brand identity as factors inspiring his decision to join the company. Nordic Milk is part of the Maag Grupp food industry group, which includes Tere AS and Farmi Piimatööstus, holding a consolidated market share exceeding 40 percent in the Estonian fresh dairy products market. The group produces over 400 dairy products, with daily milk processing occurring at facilities in Jõhvi, Põlva, and Viljandi.

Products are exported to 25 countries, and the group employs 570 individuals across its various units.

  1. It’s interesting to see a former transit leader move into the food industry’s quality control sector.
