AEGRUUM ⟩ How a radio factory became a bank building

In 1997, a revitalization of the electronics industry occurred within a business district situated between Narva, Jõe, Ahtri, and the current Parda streets. This development earned the architecturally significant building at the corner of Narva Maantee and Jõe street a cultural capital year award. Architect and heritage preservationist Henry Kuningas notes that the history of this area is intrinsically linked to that of RET, or the Radio-Electronics Factory, a prominent Estonian electronics company.

The building, characterized by its mesh-covered facade, formerly served as temporary space for the National Library and previously housed several banks.
