The Estonian immunoprophylaxis committee has expanded the eligibility criteria for the AstraZeneca vaccine, allowing it to be administered to all adults, regardless of age. Previously, the committee had restricted the vaccine’s use to individuals aged 70 and older due to insufficient data on its effectiveness or lack thereof in older populations within prior vaccine studies. Following a review of additional scientific studies, the committee determined that a basis for lowering the age limit existed and has now authorized the vaccine for all adults.
