Latvia reported a record number of COVID-19 cases overnight on January 29, 2022, according to the center for disease prevention and control. The center reported 9,626 new cases of COVID-19 detected in Latvia on Saturday, January 29th, along with seven deaths attributed to the virus. This represents the highest number of COVID-19 cases recorded in the country since the beginning of the pandemic. The infection rate per 100,000 people over a 14-day period increased from 3,904.1 to 4,250.7. Of the new cases, 5,638 individuals were fully vaccinated, while 3,988 were unvaccinated or had completed a partial vaccination course. Four of the deceased were unvaccinated or had a partial vaccination course. To date, Latvia has confirmed 382,129 cases of covid and 4,862 people have died from the virus.
