Otepää vald has appointed Carmen Mets as its new social work specialist, effective March 22, 2023. Mets, a resident of Otepää, completed primary education at Pühajärve School and subsequently studied sewing at the Sindi Light Industry Technical School. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in social work from Tallinn Technical University, which she earned in 2021, and is currently pursuing supplementary education in early childhood pedagogy at Tartu University. Prior to this role, Mets has worked in service and as an assistant teacher in a daycare setting. “My heart is in Otepää, and I have always wanted to contribute to improving the living environment of the nursing home,” Mets stated. The social work specialist’s primary responsibilities include organizing assistance to address individuals’ difficulties, and contributing to social safety, development, and integration within the community. The role focuses on preventative and supportive measures for individuals facing challenges.
