The Rail Baltica project has secured significant additional funding from the European Union as part of the broader Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) agreement. The resolution follows a dispute involving the European Parliament and member states of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, who had threatened to block approval of the EU’s recovery fund. “The final agreement on the Rail Baltica funding is born as part of the CEF agreement. Thank you once again to all the actors!” wrote Klen Jäärats, Director of the Directorate for European Union Affairs of the State Chancellery, on Twitter. The additional funding will support the rail infrastructure development for the project.
