The Moomin character exhibition currently underway at the New York Public Library has had several of the featured characters removed following a concern raised by a supporter. According to Yle, the Finnish national broadcaster, one individual identified as a supporter perceived the Frog character within the exhibition as a racist symbol. Roleff Kråkström, CEO of Moomin Characters, which manages the rights to the Moomin world, confirmed the action.

“One of their supporters perceived the Frog as a racist symbol,” Kråkström stated.
