A serious traffic accident occurred this evening at approximately 8:00 pm on the Tartu-Jõgeva highway in the Vasula interchange of Tartu County. A Volkswagen Passat collided with a Mitsubishi Land Cruiser. The Volkswagen driver, traveling on the Tartu side, initiated a turn and assessed the maneuver as unsafe. A Mitsubishi driver, traveling in the opposite direction, did not react and struck the Volkswagen Passat. The Mitsubishi Land Cruiser subsequently overturned. Rescuers had to extricate the Volkswagen driver from the vehicle. Two individuals in the Mitsubishi sustained injuries and were transported to medical facilities. Road conditions, characterized by heavy snowfall and slippery surfaces, significantly impacted visibility and safety. Police officials are urging motorists to exercise extreme caution.
