The Atacama Clothing Cemetery, located in Chile, illustrates the significant environmental impact of the fashion industry. The site contains an estimated 36 million garments, representing a substantial portion of the clothes discarded globally. On average, garments are worn only ten times before being discarded, often well before reaching the end of their intended lifespan.

The sheer volume of clothing reaching its end highlights a critical issue: the industry’s current practices result in a large number of clothes being disposed of every year.
